[Review] Simple Water Boost Hydrating Booster

When your skin starts getting dry, even though you have not changed your skincare routine, you know that winter is coming and it is time to switch up your routine. It was around this time of revelation, that I was flicking through Style magazine and saw the new product advertised from Simple. I was really happy with my routine and was worrying about what moisturiser to change to, as having combination skin makes it such a headache to find one that is not too heavy that it makes your skin oily but still hydrating enough to keep your skin moisturised, so when I saw that the Simple Hydrating Booster was a product that I could use before my moisturiser, I was excited to try it.

Simple states there are 3 ways you can use this product:

1. As a hydrating primer layer - Apply a small amount all over the face before your daily moisturiser.

2. As a booster - Add a few drops to your daily moisturiser.

3. For dry/dehydrated areas - Apply directly as needed before your moisturiser.

I use the 3rd method, day and night and have been doing so for the last 2 months. At night I use it with Simple's age-resisting night cream and in the day I use it with Clinique's Superdefense day cream so it does not necessarily have to be paired with a Simple product to be effective. My skin is currently happy, hydrated and it has not irritated it at all so I am very pleased with the product. The consistency is a liquid-gel and it has a very light scent to it. 

It is currently on offer in Boots for £4.66 (originally £6.99). I, for one will definitely be stocking up after this one runs out.

[Review] Superdrug Skincare - Vitamin E Nourishing Eye Cream

I am not sure what happened but recently the area around my eyes got really, really dry and my eyelids were swollen. I went to the Doctors for my swollen eyes which thankfully went down but the area around it was still really dry. I have been using Simple's Kind to Eyes Soothing Eye Balm for a long time now and never had a problem with it but I needed something just a bit more moisturising without irritating my skin. I researched online and read that Vitamin E is really good for the skin, it is an antioxidant and nutrient. I decided to give it a go and purchased Superdrug's Vitamin E Oil and Nourishing Eye Cream. 

I had been using the eye cream for about 2 days and instantly saw a change. It moisturised the area around my eyes without making it too oily or irritating it. My eyes have gone back to normal now and they look softer than ever! The consistency is just a tiny bit thicker than the Simple Soothing Eye Balm and the smell is not strong at all.

Experimenting with skincare is never cheap but I have found that it is not always the high-end brands that are best for your skin and when it comes to eye creams, I definitely found that out the hard way. I spent so much money on expensive eye creams which done absolutely nothing for my eyes and in most cases they actually angered my skin so this is why I stuck with Simple. Now, however I am happy to say I have found my new favourite eye cream and it is really cheap at £2.99 from Superdrug, just another bonus.

[Review] KIKO Milano Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick 314 Plum & 315 Mauve

I have never tried the brand KIKO Milano before but whenever I went past the Regent Street store in London, it is always busy inside and now they have another store open on Oxford Street which seemed more quiet, so I ventured in. I ended up with 2 lipsticks which I will review in this post, a "Smart Colour Eyeshadow in #18 Metallic Hyacinth" (£2.50) and a "Unmeasurable Length Waterproof Masacara Black" (only £3.90, on offer right now).

I am not really a lipstick person but on a night out my friend lent me her Nars Audacious Lipstick in 'Fanny', which is a pinky-purple shade and I loved the colour! But I wanted a matte version and so I found KIKO Milano's Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in #314 Plum (on the left in the picture below). I also wanted a more subtle colour for everyday wear which I chose #315 Mauve. These lipsticks are £6.90 on the website but I could have sworn I paid £9 instore, I have not got the receipt anymore to double check but just as a heads up!

These lipsticks are so creamy and pigmented which makes it easy to build up the colour if you want a more vibrant look. I also thought the packaging is pretty with the metallic rose gold bottom and black top and cover.

As someone who is not use to lipsticks I was afraid that the Plum colour might be too bright for me, I did try a tiny bit instore on my lips but for hygiene reasons I did not go full-out so I was pleasantly surprised when I finally tried it at home. The colour is not too full-on but you can still see the purple tint. The Mauve colour is quite similar to my natural lip colour, so it enhances and mattifies the colour of my lips for me which is what I was looking for in an everyday lipstick. After about 3 hours I felt like I had to re-apply.

All in all I am happy with my first purchase from KIKO Milano and will definitely be trying their other products. The price is good and the quality so far seems to be good too. You can also purchase the items on Amazon Kiko Milano 314 and Kiko Milano 315.
